Places to visit near Hanoi

As we were busy working throughout the week, we were limited to travelling on weekends, so I’ve only pointed out 3 places! But there’s plenty to see and do in each of these, and they’re convenient to get to from Hanoi, making them essential on any Vietnam itinerary!

Ha Long Bay - One of the most beautiful places! We stayed a night on the cruise. It’s safe to say it’s worth doing this to see the sunrise the next morning. The tour takes you through some caves but my favourite part was kayaking through a cave and into a hidden cove where we saw some wild monkeys!

Tam Cốc, Ninh Bình - An essential stop off on any tour of Ninh Binh. You can ride a little boat through the valley, impressively rowed along by locals using their feet!

@michellelin.lin A day in Mai châu #vietnam #maichâu ♬ Harvest Moon - Neil Young

A day trip to Mai Châu! Some incredible rice fields when you cycle through Mai Châu. It’s not as touristy as we thought so it definitely added a few extra points! Worth a visit if you have a day or two free.

Emeralda Resort Ninh Binh - One of the most amazing resorts I’ve ever stayed at, located in Ninh Binh. It’s a luxury jungley experience where you feel immersed in nature yet pampered to the max. We felt so well looked after here!
